    hmmmm, rapport fra VRC

    August 21 2009

Antonello Parisi sems to have taken full control of the Virtual Worlds by using just 1 run to set the fastest result in the semi final, leaving Mingotti 3/4 laps behind. Parisi eased the pace a bit but was still extremely consistent:
    fastest lap: 0:20.168
    slowest lap: 0:20.976
    ave. laptime: 0:20.423
    fastest pitstop: 0:26.648
    slowest pitstop: 0:27.384
    race ave. laptime: 0:20.796

So Parisi looks like the man to beat for the main final, and surely Mingotti, Glowatzki and the other contenders will keep the pressure on him. It will be a tactical final as no doubt a tire change is needed for the 45 minute main final, or will someone find a setup that will let him go the full distance without changing. Another tactical thing will be who to post for their final result first as this leaves the others with a possibility to adjust their tactics. We'll see in 2 days...

    TOP 10 SEMI FINAL:
    1. Antonello Parisi (IT) 87 Laps 30:09.310 (1/2)
    2. Giorgio Mingotti (IT) 86 Laps 30:03.758 (2/2)
    3. Danyel Glowatzki (DE) 86 Laps 30:15.855 (1/2)
    4. Grzegorz Kopertowski (PL) 86 Laps 30:19.104 (2/2)
    5. Laurent Delisle (FR) 86 Laps 30:20.256 (1/2)
    6. Daniel Burrows (NZ) 85 Laps 30:01.600 (2/2)
    7. frédéric Accomasso (MC) 85 Laps 30:02.443 (1/2)
    8. Christian Holmström (SE) 85 Laps 30:05.444 (1/2)
    9. chris stack (AU) 85 Laps 30:06.312 (1/2)
    10. Thomas Hofstedt (NO) 85 Laps 30:10.300 (2/2)

The top racers in the Virtual Worlds are really turning this race into a real showcase for VRC, with their incredible consistency and performance which is really close to what is happening at the real Worlds in Lostallo. We have also found out why the pitstops in the Virtual Worlds are about half a second to a second faster than at the real World: they added a chicane in the pitlane to slow down the speed of the cars entering the refueling area...!

PARISI STRIKES BACK IN QUARTER FINAL
    August 19 2009

With just 1.8 seconds difference Parisi has returned to the top of the leader board after defeat in qualifying where Mingotti outpaced Parisi by 1.5 seconds. Thomas Hofstedt from Norway is completing the provisional podium with just 12 seconds difference.

Parisi looked very consistent in this quarter final looking at his averages:
    fastest lap: 0:20.092
    slowest lap: 0:21.088
    ave. laptime: 0:20.392
    fastest pitstop: 0:26.636
    slowest pitstop: 0:27.040
    race ave. laptime: 0:20.727

Despite the consistency he also squeezed out another lap record of 20.092 seconds indicating that he was really pushing it to the max. The top-5 all posted 58 laps results so we expect the semi inal to be really close again, with more pressure on front runner Parisi. Can he stand it?

    TOP-10 QUARTER FINAL
    1. Antonello Parisi (IT) 58 Laps 20:02.402 (1/3)
    2. Giorgio Mingotti (IT) 58 Laps 20:04.262 (3/3)
    3. Thomas Hofstedt (NO) 58 Laps 20:16.536 (2/3)
    4. frédéric Accomasso (MC) 58 Laps 20:18.895 (2/3)
    5. Christian Holmström (SE) 58 Laps 20:19.168 (1/3)
    6. Grzegorz Kopertowski (PL) 57 Laps 20:02.072 (3/3)
    7. Laurent Delisle (FR) 57 Laps 20:04.550 (3/3)
    8. Daniel Burrows (NZ) 57 Laps 20:04.619 (3/3)
    9. Ric Bartolozzi (AU) 57 Laps 20:06.092 (2/3)
    10. Hiromu Fujii (JP) 57 Laps 20:06.548 (1/3)

    MINGOTTI CLAIMS POLE
    August 17 2009

Congratulations to Giorgio Mingotti taking Pole in qualifying. Great run!

    QUALIFYING TOP-10
    1. Giorgio Mingotti (IT) 30 Laps 10:16.399 (19/30)
    2. Antonello Parisi (IT) 30 Laps 10:17.780 (11/30)
    3. Christian Holmström (SE) 29 Laps 10:03.392 (1/30)
    4. Andrew Murray (UK) 29 Laps 10:05.889 (7/30)
    5. Hiromu Fujii (JP) 29 Laps 10:06.222 (1/30)
    6. Kouno Yoshito (JP) 29 Laps 10:07.337 (5/30)
    7. Frédéric Accomasso (MC) 29 Laps 10:08.292 (10/30)
    8. Laurent Delisle (FR) 29 Laps 10:08.526 (15/30)
    9. Daniel Burrows (NZ) 29 Laps 10:08.608 (2/30)
    10. Grzegorz Kopertowski (PL) 29 Laps 10:09.391 (30/30)

We took a look at the differences between his run and the last timed practice sessions at the real Worlds, the laptimes are very close indeed, best for Mingotti was 20.040 and for Pietsch 20.027 so far. The pitstops seem to be about 1 second faster (26.868 against 27.856).

The biggest difference in qualifying result however is that at the real Worlds they all seem to need 2 pitstops, not taking the risk of running dry midway. Corrected for 2 pitstops Mingotti's pole would have been 29 laps in 10:02.500 against 10:07.493 for Pietsch so far. I am pretty sure the real pole is going to be a bit faster than this. The grip corrections we made before this event turned out to be very precise!!!

The real Worlds results can be monitored live at:
